New Play in Development at The Actors Studio

JRM is developing an all new, full-length play at the legendary Actors Studio with director Chelsea B. Lockie at the helm. The play will be a dark comedy about a disastrous English-to-English "translation" of Taming of the Shrew. 

JRM was invited to join the Playwrights Directors Workshop this fall and is currently a finalist for lifetime membership at the Studio.

WIMBERLEY to be remounted at Midtown International Theatre Festival [Updated]

WIMBERLEY, directed by Michael Blatt, will play at The Jewel Box Theatre Oct 31 at 7pm, Nov 3rd at 7:30pm, and Nov 4th at 6pm. It will feature performances from original cast members Josh Trant and Peter Ferraiolo. Bianca Puorto will join the production team for this run as producer and assistant director.

Set in a small Texas town, Wimberley explores the boundaries of friendship between two former football players after the glories of high school are over.

A film adaptation of Wimberley is also currently in pre-production.

Wimberley (formerly known as Hole) was developed in a workshop production at The Actors Studio Drama School. This is the first time the production will be open to the public.

UPDATE: A fourth performance date has been added on November 5th at 8pm.

FIVE BARS Premiere at Stella Adler Studio of Acting

Young actors from The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Advanced Teen conservatory debuted FIVE BARS as part of their Summer Rehearsal and Performance Intensive.

JRM developed the play specifically for the students in the program, and worked directly with them through the rehearsal process.

The new horror-comedy was directed by Judson Jones.

JRM teaching with Stella Adler Outreach

JRM is honored to be joining The Stella Adler Outreach Division as a teaching artist this fall.

The Stella Adler Outreach division provides free actor training to inner city youth and other underserved populations. Outreach delivers programming in New York City schools, community organizations, and to Rikers Island.

JRM is a graduate of the Stella Adler Studio, and is currently working on an original play, 5 Bars, with the Advanced Teen Conservatory.

JRM to join Theatre East staff as Director of Communications

TheatreEast announced today that Julia Rae Maldonado will be joining company leadership as the Director of Communications. Julia has been a company member since 2012.

TheatreEast is an off-broadway theatre company founded in 2008 by husband and wife team Judson Jones and Christa Kimlicko-Jones along with Joseph Mitchel Parks. Now in its sixth season, TheatreEast has produced five critically acclaimed productions including Normalcy by Bennett Windheim and Eye of God by Tim Blake Nelson.

JRM's Muses has been included in TheatreEast's Neighborhood Reading Series, and her play In The Basement was recently featured in their touring immersive show, 5 x 5.

In the upcoming season, TheatreEast will premiere A Name for a Ghost to Mutter by Cyndi Williams.

Film Adaptation of 'WIMBERLEY' in pre-production

The film will be directed by Michael Blatt and feature performances by Peter Ferraiolo and Josh Trant. It is scheduled to be shot on location in the Texas Hill Country this winter. Screenplay by Julia Rae Maldonado.
